Summer is hurtling through my life. In the morning, I think “oh, today, surely, I
will post those Columned Beaded Flagon stitch photos.” And then the day gallops away with me and
bedtime comes and I have not done so after all.
The college kids are home, Sonja’s wedding is less than a
month away, the grandbaby is at our house for a couple of days…so the verbal
part of my brain is pretty much taken up with family. Also, summer weather has arrived – and after
the dismal spring we have endured, we are spending as much time as possible
outside. My computer is, inconveniently,
inside.
Anyhow, here are the promised photos:
Stockinette Wasteland (Max’s knit shorts to be worn with the
matching sweater for Sonja’s wedding) continues. Sarah worked on it for a bit, too, and I am
just about ready to start the individual legs.
Still many rounds of stockinette to go.
And, somehow, I seem to have begun 3 new projects!
I had just bought Max 2 sunsuits on sale. Hmm, perfect for the Beach in August. Except that it tends to be a bit cool on the
Oregon
coast, even in
summer. Now, if he had a summery, beachy
sweater to wear on top – nothing too heavy, but substantial enough to protect
his little arms from the wind….
Next thing I know, Sarah and I are at the yarn shop with a “Young
Shrimper’s Sweater” pattern from my 30-yr oldish Family Knits book. Max
would wear about a size smaller than the smallest size given, so we had to do a
little figuring. Sarah started the
sweater with the understanding that it is to be a team effort (esp. as it needs
to be done by the beginning of August).
While at the yarn store, I seem to have bought 1800 yds. of
lace-weight wool in a sort of beachy variegated color way. Now, I seem to be swatching lace patterns for
a stole when I probably ought to be knitting the Stockinette Wasteland. Oops.
I think of it as stole-en knitting time.
Thirdly, Sasha asked if it would be possible for me to knit
her a little summer capelet. Well, I
dove into that like a penguin into freezing water!
So, there we are. Or,
at least, there I am: knitting bits of
several projects on the deck in the sunshine.
As often as I can manage!
