I have been chugging away at lace (for both our lace class
sharf design and for the Joyful Ferocity) and stockinetting myself to sleep at
night with the Humble Cardigan and the dress for Gwen.  And suddenly, I have a nice wooly hat project
– with a deadline.

I think I have mentioned that my son Geoff is studying at
The London Dramatic Academy this fall.
And my daughter Sasha is flying out to visit him there next week.  So, I thought we could send along some little
things – hand-written notes, a picture Max made at school, comics clipped from
our local newspaper, that sort of thing.
And then I got an Inspiration:  I
could knit him a nice wool hat!  A hat is
quick — and I have (almost) a week to do it.

So, off to Lambs Ear Farm we went (Sarah and I).  The hat has to be warm.  So we got some Rowan Scottish Tweed dk and
some Cascade 220 Superwash (for the ribbing – softer than the Tweed).  The Tweed is
a melding of golds with flecks of yellow.
The Superwash is olive.

The hat has to be warm.
But it also has to be cool!  Hence
the edgy gold colors.  And I plan to make
it up as a ribbed watch cap with a quirky cable emblem-sort-of-thing.  One ribbed hat (which I have yet to design –
although I started swatching today) in (almost) one week.  Not unreasonable.

Although, I am going to the zoo with the grandbabies
tomorrow.  And to the theatre in the
evening.  And Saturday is the Oktoberfest
dinner at church.  And Sunday is my
son-in-law Jordan’s birthday…. Well, it is always like that, isn’t it?

But there is nothing like a deadline – that hat has to be on
the plane with Sasha on Tuesday evening!
