Sarah and I begin teaching a lace knitting workshop on
Wednesday, so I thought I would get out my Gull Pi Shawl project.  Certainly, it would be good to have a lace
knitting piece of my own to be working during the weeks of the workshop.  And perhaps if I get going on it now, I will
be able to wear it this summer.

So, I dug out the Gull Pi Shawl – and started thinking about
the other lace projects which I had set aside at one time or another for one
reason or another.  Perhaps I should be
working on one of those instead?  So, I
got out my bin of lace-projects-to-be-completed-at-a-later-date (okay, yes, I
know….) and found:

1)      An
Ostrich Plumes pattern stole in peacock-ish purple and green lace weight wool –
half-done and quite promising (almost switched it for the Gull Pi Shawl, but
held firm)

2)      The
bare beginnings of a traditional Shetland shawl (buttery gold fading to a blush
pink) – and I remembered that the stitch pattern I had chosen for the center
section had proved awkward to increase (1 stitch every row) and that I had set
it down in frustration.

3)      About
an inch of a lacy mitt worked at some infinitesimal gauge in robin’s egg blue
wool and bordered with aqua Kid Seta.

4)      The
start of a Faroese shawl (about 500 stitches wide and 3 inches tall) worked in
Jade Sapphire cashmere/silk (seaweed shades!) much too loosely on large
needles.  A gorgeous yarn being
laboriously stitched into a sloppy mess!

5)      A
lace stole which had been coming along very nicely (in variegated lace weight
wool of taupe, grays, greens) until it had been shoved aside for something more
pressing like Christmas, I suspect.

6)      My
ball of qiviuk (spruce green-blue)

Well, a little time away from a project certainly gives
perspective!  I ripped back the Shetland
shawl, the lacy mitt (what was I
thinking?!), and the Faroese shawl.  I
petted the qivuk and whispered promises to the two stoles.  I tucked the projects and the yarns back into
the bin – and raced to the computer to brag about how sensible I had been about
the whole thing!

Now, back to re-acquainting myself with the Gull Pi
Shawl.  And continuing with Gwen’s Yzma
blanket and the Batwing Thing and my Bronze socks …. And there are some layette
pieces to sew up…..

I feel funny commenting on my own blog, but I just found out that today is “Pi Day” — March 14 being 3/14! How freaky is that!
