My 3 daughters and I had a fabulous time in Napa last week. We had lots of fun, tasted lots of great wine, ate great food, laughed a lot, tasted lots of great wine, discussed all sorts of things, tasted lots of great wine, enjoyed the glorious scenery — did I mention the wine?
I admit I did not do much knitting (did some at the airport and on the plane). We were out and about a lot while we were there — walks in the vineyard at the hotel, pool lounging, a visit to the spa. And the wineries, of course.
Sarah and I did make it to Yarns On First — a fabulous yarn shop (and, no, we had not done any wine-tasting yet that day — or we probably would have bought more yarn!). We got a "Churchmouse Classics" pattern for Turkish Bed Socks — and Koigu yarn to make a pair for Sasha (a thank you gift since she did so much of the planning for the trip). I got some wheaty-gold Alpaca & SIlk and a slightly furry wool Evento in green and black (the furry part is black) to go withthe beasty yarn I got at the Spring Fair. Sarah also bought yarn to make a capelet or shrug.
I loved how they arranged the yarns by color — that is how I choose yarn, usually, and it also sets of the various shades well, I think.
Back home now — and I really need to get cracking on Gwen's blanket if I hope to have it done for her birthday next week!
