Sometimes unexpected things happen when one is knitting, right? And if we decide we like it, we call it a "design element," right?
Well, in knitting up the "Magick Hands" gloves, I found those pesky ladders forming because of the gap between the double-pointed needles. And –not wanting to keep scooting the stitches around the needles because I was working the spade motif off a chart and also putting in a thumb gusset — I figured that I could just kind of fix it later. (okay, I know those things don't necessarily block out….)
But then when the glove was done, Sarah and I kind of liked the look of the ladder ridges! They give the glove a sort of edgy-chic look. Geoff even pointed them out and said "I like the design." So, design element it is! I just hope that when Sarah knits the second glove (which she is doing to check my notes) she gets ladders!
