So, what does a career knitter do for recreation? Knit, of course. It is kind of a joke, but kind of true.
Although, sometimes I get the hankering to crochet. Maybe it is the Spring weather? I have done a lot of crochet in Springtimes past – particularly lace crochet. So, when I was fiddling around with the living room mantle to make it a bit more Spring-like and decided I needed some colorful turtles (I don’t expect anyone else to follow that thought process!), I immediately thought of crochet.
I hunted out a pamphlet called “Sachet Pincushions” which has several little animal patterns – including a turtle. It is shown all in white (it was published when Victoriana was the craze), but I dug out colored crochet cotton (good old bedspread weight) and now I am a little obsessed! I finished the first turtle – it took an entire evening and a little more – and felt strongly that he needed a buddy. So, I am at work on Turtle Number 2.
I keep thinking I will set it aside and get back to my knitting, but then I just keep on crocheting. So, I have decided that I should just go ahead and power through the second turtle and get it out of my system. Then, back to knitting!
