Yesterday we spent hours cleaning up the front and back yards – this was a family event, a gift to George for his birthday (next year, we are all pitching in on a gift card!). Needless to say, I was physically exhausted and a bit the worse for wear by the time I settled down to my knitting. And was not at all surprised to find my hands breaking out into tremors every now and then as I knit!
This morning I woke feeling as if I had been beaten with sticks. And I am still pretty tired. Fortunately, I could “lie low” today – the only real activities being church and watching the Mariners game on TV. Sadly, the M’s lost today – though they took the series with two fabulous wins Friday and Saturday!
But I digress from knitting. Which is pretty much how it has been going lately with our Sasha & Geoff home from college for a few weeks and family events dominating our days and evenings.
But what I really wanted to do here was to confess that I have been discouraged by our winter-ish spring and cannot really face my true summer knitting – the Mermaid Shell, for example. Even lace seems dangerously insubstantial in our cold wet weather.
(Note: today we finally broke down and took the flannel sheets off the bed! Not because they seemed to warm, but because it was time to change the beds and I refused to put flannel back on – it being Memorial Weekend, for heaven’s sake!) (I digress again)
So, I have cast on the Otter Rock Sweater – a cozy beachy sort of pull-over with is much better suited to our gray days. I succumbed to the current weather. And I succumbed to the delicious Blue Sky Alpaca yarn I bought at Renaissance Yarns!
So, blow, blow thou spring winds! And summer winds, too! I have the right knitting at hand.
