I love deadlines.  They energize me and fill me with purpose.  They render me so productive that I will pile as many languishing projects as I can get my hands on onto an upcoming deadline – and then knit my little heart out until the deadline comes (some of the pile may sort of slip by the wayside, I confess, but many things do actually get done!).  It is not a perfect system, but it can get me focused.

So, with our annual family trip to the Beach coming up in August, I have cheerfully pawed through my knitting bags to see what I could possibly get done before we go.

1)      The Otter Rock Sweater (naturally, since it was intended for this trip all along and I am eager to wear it at the site of its namesake) – though it is on temporary hold while I wait for another skein of yarn to ship…I need it to complete the second sleeve.  Not going to be the same dyelot, I’m afraid, but it will have to do…

2)      The Summer Version of the Tam For All Seasons (swatched and cast on yesterday).  It has been raining a lot this week and so I am reminded of how useful a summery tam would be – plus if I don’t get it going soon, I will probably have to move on to the Autumn Version.

3)      The Tea Leaf Jacket for Sonja’s baby – all it needs is the sleeves sewn on and some buttons.  And it would be nice to give it to her at the baby shower that is to take place at the Beach.

4)      The Gull Pi Shawl – resurrected!  I had planned to get it done for last year’s trip to the Beach.  I am on the lace edging.

5)      Butterfly Q’mitl – have been chugging away at this all summer!  I just have to finish the lace panel and 7 butterflies for the edging (have nearly finished the 2nd).

Not unreasonable with nearly 3 weeks to knit.  Although, I will still be working on a couple of other projects.  And I am trying to not think about the baby leggings that are supposed to go with the Tea Leaf Jacket – and a few other things that are “in the wings but not on the needles.”  After all, I will need some knitting to bring to the Beach too!
