Apparently when I am stressed, I turn to new knitting projects – probably has to do with some psychological need to be in control of something or maybe it is sheer mental escape! Anyhow, it has been a stressful week and I seem to be designing and knitting a vest that was not even on the radar a week ago – and I am about to go swatch up the yarn from the KnitPicks Winter Woodland Mittens kits which arrived yesterday. I also found myself fingering some sock yarn speculatively…but I stuffed it back in a bag!
I am endeavoring to harness some of this rather manic enthusiasm and channel it into some current projects that are oh-so-close to done – the Butterfly Q’mitl, for one. And the baby cap and socks from Homespun Handknit which are nearly complete. And it only makes sense to get through the Fair Isle knitting portion of Max’s “Hansel” jacket before beginning the Fair Isle mittens.
I have only a few points to go on edging of the Gull Pi Shawl – and finishing that will be an occasion for major celebration! Worthy of chocolate, a glass of good Cabernet Sauvignon, and casting on a Woodland Mitten!
