I do not know why every year I wake up the day after Halloween and am shocked that it is November. But it happened again this year and so this has been recover-from-Halloween-gear-up-for-the-Holidays week.
Writing my blog always gets a bit tricksy this time of year. I would love to blather on about my Christmas knitting projects, but since the family reads the blog, this would seriously compromise the surprise element of Christmas giving — in which I take a childish delight (oh, the excitement of "secret knitting" in my otherwise humdrum life!) and which lends glamour to a simple pair of socks or a prosaic wool scarf.
I CAN, however, write about the baby knitting. It isn't done yet — neither the knitting nor, apparently, the baby. I have hopes for the Yzma Blanket and I really, really should be able to finish the Eskimo Kiss Hooded Cocoon pod-thing (which is knit on gi-normous needles at about 2 stitches per inch). I have set the garter blanket aside for the time being (and it might be little Owen's Christmas gift — I figure I can say that since I don't think he has wifi in the womb).
I can also give updates on Max's and Gwen's Holiday outfits — both coming along (stockinette waistland…). Gwen's lacy socks are nearly done. And it occurs to me that all this "almost done" talk would be a lot more interesting (and a lot more convincing) if I put in some photos! So, I will try to do a little photo shoot this weekend.
With so much grand-baby knitting going on, I have not actually jumped fully into my Christmas knitting yet. But once I do, perhaps I will figure out some sort of code for writing about my projects (ex., "the lacey thing" or "the beastie thing" etc.). It might even build suspence for the family (those who worry that they might be getting "the beastie thing" and those who are afraid they won't be getting "the beastie thing"!).
