We have had a full, festive, fabulous family Christmas – with all my kids, grandkids, kids-in-law, and kids-in-law-to-be together (as well as my sister Susan and her family – for a Grand Reunion Kanick-Avison Christmas!).
As things are winding down here (and the sugarplums and tinsel are starting to clear out of my brain!), I thought I would give a little report on the Christmas Knitting before we head into the New Year.
I finished Sasha’s Lace Scarf, Geoff’s Bias Garter Scarf, Sonja’s Lace Cowl, and Dave’s Moose Hat. Huzzah! They were wrapped and under the tree (blocked and pretty and all). George’s Seamless Hybrid Sweater is still in progress and was wrapped (and opened) “on the needles” (with the usual “careful, it’s pointy” warning issued). He was delighted and surprised nonetheless – and enjoys watching me work on it (it is progressing quickly now that I can work on it openly!). I am still working on one present for a dear (and kind) friend who said she would welcome an Epiphany gift!
So, I am pleased with both the realistic scope of my Christmas Knitting and the fact that it was mostly accomplished by Christmas. Especially in light of the other Christmas-related projects I took on this year:
11 Embroidered Tea Towels
5 Organza Holiday Hostess Aprons
3 Velvet Christmas Stockings
3 Commissioned Knit Breadcloths (Sarah & I did these together)
2 Knit German-style Kids' Holiday Outfits
1 Kid Holiday Baking Apron
1 Gorgeous Santa Suit (Sarah’s commission & design – I helped)
Sounds like a new version of “The Twelve Days Of Christmas”!
Happy New Year to All and to All a Good Night!
