So, today is Mother's Day and tomorrow is my birthday — which means that for these 48 hours I can do pretty much anything I want (within the bounds of decency and as long as I use my own money) and my family can only smile and silently roll their eyes. It is best to strike quickly and decisively (the family can only take so much waffling around — and it is best to avoid any "do you think I should…?" nonsense anyhow).
So, I ordered the KnitPicks Sunstruck interchangeable needle set (on sale for 30% right now). And the acrylic stand to hold them (we have the other 3 sets — all in the acrylic stands). We use these all the time — which is why I wanted another set (i.e., the needles I need always seems to be committed to other projects…).
And I bought 3 Veera Välimäki's garter stitch shawl patterns: Happy Street, Stripe Study Shawl, and Different Lines. I love her Color Affection Shawl — the one I knit in gold yarns last summer and the King Tut one I am still "in progress" on (without much progress lately, I confess — and I bough these patterns with the clear understanding that I would not begin one of them until I had finished the King Tut).
Perhaps you are familiar with the kids' book If You GIve A Mouse A Cookie… — and if you are, you know that he will want a glass of milk to go with it. And if you give a knitter a shawl pattern, um, she's gonna want some yarn to go with it!
Which is why I (taking full advantage of my precious Once-a-Year 48-hr. Indulgence) ordered some Gloss fingering yarn from KnitPicks for the Stripe Study Shawl. Sea Spray and Timber. Dynamic!
Soooo, Happy Mother's Day to All … and Happy Birthday to Me!
And a warm thank you to my family — both for the delightful phone calls, cards, gifts & hugs and for the kind 48-hr. Indulgence!
