This is the week before our annual family trip to The Beach — which means doing all the usual daily stuff, doing all the stuff to get ready for our trip, and doing all the stuff I told myself I would get done before we go! You know how that goes. Pretty soon it will be time to start ditching stuff from the last category, but I really should be able to finish and block the Leaves of Grass Pi Shawl before we go. The rest of my knitting projects will just come along in whatever state they are in. Kinda like us.
Among the “going to The Beach” projects is a lot of pink yarn (because there is going to be a new baby grand-daughter this fall!).
I have been struggling with the stitch pattern for her Yzma Blanket for days. I found one I liked (for the center section — it will have a border around it and then another border around that) called Bavarian Block Pattern (top photo), but the twisted stockinette made even the swatch bias terrifyingly.
So, I have been playing around with variations that do not have the twisted stockinette (which does show off the twisted stitch columns so beautifully, but… oh the darned bias-ing!). And I decided to put the pretty little knot from Knot Pattern in the center of the blocks. Since the knit uses 3 stitches, I tried a 3-stitch twisted stitch column, but it looked too cable-y.
So, I am now working out how to have a 2-stitch column alternate (vertically) with a 3-stitch knot. Hint: it involves some sneaky increasing and decreasing. The magic will be if it all centers up convincingly. Will let you know if it does (you will probably hear the scream of frustration if it doesn’t — wherever you are!).
Other Pink Knitting includes a tiny kimono out of luxurious Rowan Baby Merino Silk DK with a sweet snowflake lace bit on the front right side. And a pink and gray Lacey Kimono (on the lines of the Leafy Kimono) — no swatch on that yet.
I figure I will be able to handle all this knitting with pink yarn when I can lift my eyes and look out on the blue ocean!

I want to see the yarns for that pink and gray kimono! One of my favorite color combinations and exciting to think about.
Knit your heart out at the beach and enjoy your family!LikeLike
