Sonja and I had a delightful weekend in the Fairhaven area of Bellingham. We stayed at a charming little hotel within walking distance of shops, restaurants, galleries, nature trails. Lovely!
We visited two yarn shops and, shockingly, I did not purchase any yarn! But Sonja bought some pretty lavender yarn to make a hat for Sarah’s baby. Sweet! I did purchase a knitting reference book: “The Shape of Knitting” by Lynne Barr. It is an inspiring book filled with shaping techniques — increases & decreases, cast-ons & -offs, and such for creating 3-dimensional knits. Really, one has to look through the book to appreciate it! Which is why, though I had heard of it, I had not thought of buying it until I had it in my hands.
I am off to Elko tomorrow to visit Sasha & Dave. My knitting is packed! Always a tough call on which projects to bring. One that did not make the cut — simply because it is big & bulky and nearly done! — is the Blues Inverted Cardigan. All I have left (besides weaving in ends, sewing up, and blocking!) is the picot edging. The first photo shows the edge of the lace picot-less and the second features the pretty little picots! I am pleased.
