Actually, I think all the sand is gone from my toes, my ears, my hair — and The Beach is now a happy memory tucked in with all the many memories of past years. I have shook the sand (figuratively, not literally — well, maybe a little bit literally) from my knitting and am nearly ready to roll into Autumn!
Today is stormy — wind, rain — and one cannot but face the fact that Autumn is coming. I love Autumn and will be ready to embrace it fully once we get back from our last summer expedition — a trip to Elko to visit Sasha & Dave next week.
So, I am still on the cusp as far as knitting projects go. I confess that the summer sun has set on one project. The Limonade. So pretty and Spring-y and Summery! Without a snowball’s chance in you-know-where when it come to my Autumn wardrobe. And since knitting the lace edging was feeling both awkward and endless…well, it was a great candidate for hibernation. And come Spring, I will likely find it an exhilarating knitting experience once more 🙂
Until today it has truly been to hot to think seriously about blanket knitting, but I have dug out the Gyre Cardigan (Norah Gaughan) and have high hopes of completing it in time for our trip to New York City at the end of September. Sarah and I had a perfectly satisfying trip to In The Wind Yarns while we were at the Beach and bought yarn for our Swirls! (from Sandra McIver’s book “Knit, Swirl!”). They are going to be gorgeous and so very ubiquitous, I know already!
Still alive and squirming in my knitting bag are: the Shipwreck Shawl (which I enjoyed working on at the Beach both last year and this year, but tend to set aside once I get home and get swept up in Autumn knitting — at this rate, it will be done when I am about 90!), Tripartite (Stephen West’s “versatile garment” which would also be a delightful and useful piece to take to New York — I am almost half-way done….), and Artesian, a shawl designed by Romi Hill (truly an Autumn project, as I am knitting it up with wooly Freia yarn in brown shading thru gold to blue).
I am pleased to be have my 2 new summer sweaters and my crocheted poncho to wear in Elko — where, Sasha assures me, it has “cooled down to the 80s”! But which knitting projects to take? Hmmm. Perhaps…perhaps… Fox Paws?!

I think it is time to update the pictures on your blog with something a bit more timely…or at least projects that have been done in recent months. Since I don’t see you that often it would be fun to at least see your works of art!
