In our family, we call them Lovies — those supremely special blankets, stuffed animals, dollies that share our lives so uniquely.  The irreplaceables.  The always-in-reach-ables.  We hold them in high regard, these quiet companions.

Pink (short for Pink Panther) and Mortimer (an elephant that is, coincidently, also pink) are George's and my Lovies and they have been with us every night for over 35 years.  Understandably, they have grown a bit worn and Pink, in particular, has become threadbare in spots.  Mending could only go so far and I finally decided that he needed a sort of "second skin" — a knitted pink suit!

Bright pink sock yarn.  A suit with 70's style and a hole for his tail.  A top-down turtleneck with extra-long sleeves to cuff over his hands and full sock-like footies.  (Incidentally, it has been a terrific exercise in fit and design!)

i completed Pink's Suit over the weekend and he and I are both pleased with the it 🙂

He is good to go for our trip to New York City next week!
