Well, here we are well on the other side of Labor Day — and 2 of my 3 Summer projects are complete!

The crochet poncho (Sea Turtle from Yumiko Alexander’s Rustic Modern Crochet)

And the striped cotton knit sweater (Nareen by Lana Jois from the Summer edition of Pompom)

Both worth every stitch!  I had some fiddly finishing work on the sweater — sewing down the selvedge seam around the armbands and side vents so they would lie flat. But I am so pleased with the results.  I confess that I did not block the sweater — it is oversized and really a lot of cotton fabric so it is heavy.  I was concerned that it would loosen and grow exponentially when wet!

The zippy yellow and white q’mitl is still in process, but I am not giving up on it.  Honestly.  I am finding the garter bias piece a bit of a trudge at this point, but realized that if I move it from straight needles to a circular needle, it will be more comfortable to knit.  So that helps.  I am all for smoothing the path if it makes the journey more pleasant!

That said, I am moving forward on some Fall knitting.  No cable sweaters (as yet….) tho they are clearly “the thing” in all the knitting magazines this season.  Even tho it is pouring rain out as I write, I cannot quite imagine wearing a long sleeved t-shirt, much less a cabled wool sweater!  So, I think it is safe for me to ogle away at the photos for purely aesthetic enjoyment 🙂
