October has always been my favorite month — even before I was a knitter! And I am not alone. Boy, if I had a skein of yarn for every person has has told me she loves the cooler temperatures this week, I would be casting on a new shawl!
And I’m afraid I do have a ferocious case of Start-itis (the compulsion to start projects). For some reason, even as I write, I am oggling a pile of yarn that wants to be a shawlette (using the pattern from last year’s Jimmy Beans’s Craftvent Mystery Knit-along). I am already knitting another shawlette — a design project that Sarah and I are perfecting. And I am midway through about 6 other Autumnal projects. But that yarn just sits there batting its eyes and playing all coy….
The shawlette from last year is a lovely piece — very wearable and beautifully suited to the Autumn palette (tho it worked well in Winter and Spring — the colors are that good!).
I am appreciating the fact that it is actually done and ready for chilly soccer games and such. I have a cozy sweater on the needles that I would love to be wearing right now! And I ordered 3 skeins of self-striping sock yarn to wear with those boots with the cut-away side that are so hip right now. I have the boots — and a single sock cuff. So far.
Sarah and I are off to Coeur d’Alene for Camp Stitches next weekend — and a 3-day class with Myra Wood of Knitting in New Directions — and, no doubt, a whole lot of inspiration! Not sure I will have any of the new knits done for that. But, fortunately, I have several drawers of old knits that are ready to come out and play in the crisp October sunshine 🙂
Oh, bring on those cozy Autumn evenings! My knitting and I are good to go!
