We have had some real honest-to-goodness snow here — 8”, 10”, 12” depending on where you live in the area.  Everything (just about) shut down and everyone (just about) hunkered down for a few days of cozy winter pursuits — lots of sledding and snowman-building in our neighborhood!  Lots of us stayed inside and enjoyed the fairy tale view — texting photos to friends and family near and far.

Pretty perfect knitting conditions!  All day and nowhere to go — and all that cold weather for wooly inspiration 🙂 Tho I confess that snow days make me dreamy and maybe a little lazy.  I found myself just sitting with my coffee and gazing our the window watching the snow fall.  So, though I did a goodly amount of knitting, it was mostly simple stuff — nothing very creative or challenging.  I was happy with plain knitting (which is rows of knitting and/or rows of purling — no counting stitches or any patterning).  Tho I did work on the 3-in-1 Button Boots which has short row shaping and such because they are such a “cozy toes” project!

I have also been building my LEGOs Apollo Rocket.  Doing a little yoga.  I even pulled out my needlepoint!

Now, it has been raining for about 22 hours and the snow is softening to slush.  Still lots of weather-related closures (schools, etc.) — and George and I are still effectively snowbound as our icy drive down to our icy cul de sac is risky yet.  So, one more cozy day at home for us.

But already I feel a bit more motivated and energized — enough to tidy up my study and do some writing.  And I have started gathering my materials for the Madrona Fiber Arts Winter Retreat classes Sarah and I are taking Friday and Sunday!  Now to start on the second 3-in-1 button boot — so I can wear them before Winter has deserted us. (Tho heaven knows our wet Spring weather chills us to the bones and is definitely wool-worthy!)
