I know that some knitters set aside their needles in the Summertime. And certainly Autumn and Winter are the prime knitting seasons for many. But oh how I succumb to the allure of Summer knitting!
Kudos to all the yarn companies and magazines β you guys make Summer knits irresistible! Oh yes, I would love to be that lady in the retro frock on the beach, bare shoulders sun-kissed and draped in that marvelous lace shawl…or those chic gals in their darling linen knit tops sipping wine at that Parisian sidewalk cafe…or any of the other women strolling through art galleries in bold cardigans or lounging poolside adorned in gigantic sunglasses and brilliant, oh-so chi-chi openwork swimsuit cover-ups!
Summertime knit fantasies are the best π
And Summer yarns β silky cotton and crisp linen β are delightful in the hands on sultry days. Cool and light. So even if knitting that marvelous shawl takes most of the Summer, it is still making me happy. The Concentric Cotton lace shawl I am making now is perfect β the stitch pattern is simple enough to be soothing and varied enough to keep me awake on drowsy afternoons on the deck.
In fact, I was enjoying this stitch pattern so much β and was so pleased with how it looks β that I chose it for the q'mitl I am making out of a fabulous bulky yarn!
And so, while I enjoy my Summer knit fantasies, I am pretty content to be that lady in her favorite sun hat slurping iced coffee and knitting happily on the back deck!
