Well, okay, mid-November sliding toward late-November. Almost Thanksgiving.
I confess that I am dragging my feet a bit — relishing November. The sun came out for a bit this afternoon — just to say hello, you know, before slipping behind the horizon. I was taking care of my granddaughters Evelyn (6yrs) and Coco (5yrs). Actually, they were pretty much taking care of themselves — completely involved in their games of “make believe” — and I was knitting lace (my Halloween shawlette which is a bright pumpkin-y orange with flecks of murky purple). It was a lovely afternoon.
This week we will sigh and take down our Fall decor — the branches of silk crimson and gold leaves, the pumpkins, the skeletons and skulls. I am dragging my feet there too, but it must be done. I love our Fall Decor! But the season is shifting. Phrases like “Christmas Card List” are appearing on my to-do list. Our burnt-down pumpkin spice candle is replaced with a cranberry-scented one. And it is true that I love Advent — and our Christmas Decor brings me joy too.
So, my plan is to enjoy November fully this week and then, with a heart filled with gratitude for the gift of the Seasons (among the many blessings of Life!), celebrate Thanksgiving with family, and sashay into December with bells on!
