But in a good way!
My knitting has sort of a “perfect storm” situation right now — it happens in September! First, I have my Summer knitting projects which are all moving along nicely as I have been hauling them to the beach and parks and the pool. And travel has meant car knitting and plane knitting too! And I have actually completed two Summer knits:
“Edie” by Isabel Kraemer in Concentric Cotton by Hikoo. The color shifts are due to the yarn itself — a 4-strand Pima cotton which gradually changes hue with one strand, then two, then three, and finally all four. A perfect Summer knit T!
“Beachcomber” a shawl for Summer by Chelsea Berkompas and knit in KnitPicks “CotLin” yarn (a cotton and linen blend that drapes beautifully and feels cool to the touch!)
But there are still Summer projects in the works — including an epic design project called
Flower Bed Me!” which uses a lot of different yarns and traditional bedspread patterns! And on a sunny afternoon, knitting linen lace on the deck still feels right.
But on gray misty mornings, I begin to think fondly of the wool sweater projects I set aside when the weather warmed up in the Spring. It is rather brilliant to have a half-finished sweater project to return to when the begin to change and there is a chill in the air. So, those projects are calling to me!
The final part of my “perfect storm” is the Jimmy Beans “Biggest Little Getaway” makers’ retreat — from which Sarah and I have just returned! Filled with inspiration and toting a couple of class projects, as well as a WHOLE lot of yarn for new projects! We are set for our Autumn and Winter knitting 🙂
Meanwhile, I suppose I will knit summer lace while the sunshine holds — turning to the woolies on gray mornings and rainy evenings. And the Jimmy Beans projects will somehow work themselves into the mix, no doubt. I could feel overwhelmed, but I have learned to trust the transition — a bit mixed and awkward, but just part of the creating process, really. Especially for a very seasonal knitter like myself! Embracing seasons means embracing transitions — or at least weathering them!
