Temperatures are creeping down here in the Pacific NW — maybe not quite cold enough for a wearing wool sweaters, but certainly brisk enough for knitting a wool sweater!  And fortunately I have one that is well under way (meaning I abandoned it last Spring).  Lovely oatmeal colored wool yarn:  Woolstok Worsted from Blue Sky Fibers.  The pattern is theirs as well: Pemberton Pullover designed by Bobbi Intveld.  A rather classic piece with delicious textured bands.  The sweater is for my husband George 🙂

George is totally worth knitting for because he wears his handknits regularly.  In fact, I would say that those are the pieces he reaches for first!  So I am excited to finish this sweater for him.   I chose this color because he doe s not have a light gray sweater — and because I think it will work year-round.  And it certainly shows the textured stitches beautifully!

I have another sweater queued up and ready to go: this one for myself!  A rich melange of chocolate browns, redwood, russets, sparks of black, even streaks of green…Tosh Vintage (color way “Superb”).

Destined to become a cardigan — more specifically, the Reading Cardigan from Brooklyn Tweed (a Shaker rib sweater designed by Jared Flood).   I mean, how could I resist a reading cardigan?!

A reading cardigan seems like the best of all possible garments and I love the yarn chosen to make it! I look forward to seeing it come together. It just occurred to me this morning that I need to unearth some of the patterns and yarns I bought last winter for making Christmas gifts!
