Well, not exactly of the petal-ed variety! I am speaking of rose hues in my knitting 🙂
Apparently, I am in my Rose Phase! After years and years of blues and greens, I am suddenly enthralled with rose-y shades: oranges from apricot to rust, purples from lavender to pomegranate and back again, any shade of pink!
I think it began with a hot pink accent in a black shawl…or even before that with some mauve-y earth tones and russet browns…
But I have never really been one to go pink with anything! It just didn’t seem like me…
And then I fell in fell head-over heels for with a shawl shown in the most luscious pink-lemonade color! I bought the pattern (Rubia Shawl by Ksenia Naidyon) and ordered the exact yarn from A Verb For Keeping Warm (merino and cashmere).
I particularly love the nupps (these sweet bobbly-bits)!
Well, even before I succumbed to Rubia’s charms, I had already embarked on my rose journey (without actually realizing it!). The yarns I had chosen the previous year for my Fascination Wrap (Xandy Peters design) were lipstick shades! In fact, I even named this piece Lipstix 🙂
Now, I have 3 pinky projects of my own design on the needles. They make me happy! I have even added rose shades to my wardrobe — and I bought a stunning hot pink purse for formal & fancy events.
