Okay, while pink is my new obsession, I have other colors on my needles as well! The summer shawl I call “Serengeti” (the color name of the yarn that started it all for me) is knit from Joji Locatelli’s “Staring Point” shawl. Actually, I had been intrigued by the pattern construction (I can go a little nuts over an interesting construction!) some years before I bought yarn and started knitting. Imagine a rectangle with diagonal lines from corner to corner — and then fill the triangles with dynamic stripes of color and pattern!
I chose mostly cotton and linen (there might be a touch of silk….) to go with Hedgehog Fibre’s variegated (admittedly woolen) yarn. The result will be an expansive, airy shawl that just begs to go out for cocktails on a sultry summer evening 🙂
Expansive is the word! There is a lot of knitting — and I think this is the 3rd summer I have worked on it. It hibernates during the wooly season 🙂 I think this might just be the year, though, when I finish it. September here is always warm enough for a cotton/linen shawl.
