This is what
Bronze looks like!
I knit, knit, knit through the Closing Ceremonies. Through the Norwegian national anthem, the
Greek national anthem, the Olympic hymn, and the Russian national anthem.
I got a little nervous when they started folding up the
Olympic flag – but the flame was still burning.
As Neil Young crooned “Long May You Run” (yes, he is
Canadian and, yes, he did play the harmonica, and, yes, it was epic!), I
completed the last row of the leg of the second sock – and moments later
(seriously, mere moments later – how
do I do it? gotta be some freaky talent…) the torch extinguished.
Whew. Now, the tributes
by famous Canadian actors are over, the giant inflatable beavers have passed,
and the last notes of the final rendition of “Oh, Canada” have melted away. The 2010 Winter Olympic Games are over. And I have two completed half-socks! Go Team USA!
“Long May You Knit!”
