I finished The Bronze Socks! And I am delighted with them.
I had begun them as my Winter Olympics challenge project –the idea being to complete the project between the opening of the Opening Ceremony and the closing of the Closing Ceremony. As the Olympics wound down and I realized I would not finish the socks in their entirety, I decided that I would award myself a Bronze Medal for getting the legs (they are tall socks) of both socks done by the time the flame was extinguished. And, huzzah, I did!
But, of course, that meant I had to finish the socks without the fire of competition and personal challenge to keep me going. And then spring came and I no longer felt inclined to wear boots (I had originally begun the socks so I could wear them with my really cool short cowboy boots) and, in fact, I was not even planning to wear socks at all until fall came. Soooo, other projects leapt to the fore.
But I did not give up. Nor did I stop working on them altogether. I just plodded along. And then we began getting organized for our "Socks In My Knitting Bag" workshop and I got all sock-inspired again (and it was September — my boots were calling!).
And so, here they are! "Sleepy Hollow Socks" pattern (by Lori Law, OceanwindKnits.ca) modified to be taller and worked up in Blue Moon FIber Arts "Socks the Rock" lightweight merino in Rare Gems colorway.
