I finished Owen’s wool blanket and gave it to him today (tho he was actually more interested in a stuffed penguin at the time — poor timing on my part!). It is the Moderne Baby Blanket from Mason-Dixon Knitting — a lot a lot a lot of garter. Really a beautiful & sophisticated piece, tho, and worth all the garter.
I am coming to a renewed appreciation for garter stitch. It has a sculptural quality that showcases yarn beautifully. It makes a flat cooshy fabric. And of course it is simplicity itself to knit — even counting rows is painless (even in poor light) because you just count the ridges and double the number.
Tonight I am going to take a break from my “Red” knitting — i.e. my linen lace vest and Sarah’s linen/cotton lace top. I have enough brain to pick up my Frog Tree Alpaca Color Block sweater again — and I may even knit the heel on my Mermaid Socks. I confess that my hands are a little tired from working with linen yarn!
(I apologize for not putting links to these patterns, but I am posting this using an ap on my iPad for the first time and I am keeping it as simple as I can!)

Absolutely beautiful! I am in awe of you. I hope Mrs. Kanick Sr. and George are doing better. You are in my prayers.
