Sarah decided to sew Gwen's Easter dress and Max's Easter vest — and I was a consultant, of course (long distance as she was in North Carolina at the time). So, I got all invested in the projects and decided that the dress would be enhanced by knitted lace mitts and that a knit tie would be the appropriate accessory for the vest. This was about a week before Easter.
The mitts were quick — made of a cream-colored cotton yarn with a bit of a sheen. The tie was a small project too, but I confess that Sarah helped with the knitting (while I was doing the hand-sewing finishing on the vest because she has Trigger Finger [an inflamed tendon issue] and cannot manage a needle and thread right now — tho, thankfully, she can knit!). I also confess that she was knitting on it on the way to the Children's Easter Party at our golf club the day before Easter and ended up binding it off short (since we were tucking it into a vest, well, we could do that!) — then that evening, she pulled out the bind-off and finished knitting it. So, it really was done for Easter. The tie is knit in Seed Stitch using silk yarn.
I had hoped to finish Sarah's Lace Top — from VogueKnitting Spring/Summer 2012 (Vicki Square's Lace Back Top) — for Easter, but didn't quite make it. I finished it this week, however — in time for VogueKnitting Live in Seattle this weekend! Yay! I used Rowan's Creative Linen (50% linen, 50% cotton) and love how it turned out. The pattern was good, but it was challenging to sew up. I am gald I took my time about it.
