In the past couple of days, I have resurrected 2 projects — both are Spring/Summer projects I abandoned when Autumn arrived. I have always been a very seasonal knitter!
The first revived piece was my “Leaves of Grass” pi shawl (Jared Flood design) in Tosh Merino Light (mmmmmmm…). The color way is Maple Leaf, but it is really a greeny-gold (shown in the lowest sidebar photo). An engrossing lace stitch dance in circles — like a Maypole dance, perhaps?
Today I dug out my “Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Green Sweater” (dissected & written by Sunday Holm). Photos below. The yarn is Codex (handpainted silk & Blue-faced Leicester wool) from The (sadly defunct) Sanguine Gryphon. Also a “mmmmmm….” yarn! I confess that I was inspired by my newest knitting book purchase: Geraldine Warner’s “Vintage Design Workshop” — which is a true workshop on working with vintage patterns or adapting contemporary patterns to have a vintage look. Is am both and impressed and excited! It is probably a good thing that I had a vintage style garment in the works already.
Sooo, I am actively knitting on 3 lace/textured pieces and 4 garter/stockinette pieces and 1 sadly neglected Mermerry Sock — which exceeds my “5 active projects — realistically” limit.
But, hey, May is my birthday month and it is my tradition to celebrate all month long. And a lot of “sit in the sun and knit like a crazy lady” sounds like celebration to me!
