I have returned to the Epic Sort & Clean of my studio that I began last fall. I have completely re-organized the space — most notably shifting it from a sewing emphasis to a knitting emphasis. All I had left to do was to sort out boxes of random yarn into bins (by color) and take apart some projects that had languished.
I made a good start last weekend and am determined to finish it up this weekend! And when I am done I may celebrate by swatching up a Spring/Summer cardigan.
Which is my Segway to Spring Knitting.
A few days ago it was warm enough for me to wear a lightweight sweater around the house! So, I pulled out my favorite ratty Old Navy sweater — the one that is so worn and weary that it makes everyone in the family cringe (I’ve had to patch the elbows with knitted leaves and flowers in recent years!).
And I recalled (in that kind of “oh, yeahhhh” flash that comes upon me from time to time in relation to yarn purchases) that last year I had ordered yarn to knit a replacement cardigan. (I have an on-going mission to replicate my favorite go-to store-bought garments with hand-knit garments). I found it in my treasure chest sized bin of “Yarn With A Specific Destiny” — 8 skeins of Brown Sheep Cotton Fine (80/20 cotton/merino blend) in Oriental Jade. My plan is to follow directions from Barbara Walker’s classic “Knitting from the Top Down” for a raglan cardigan. Basic stockinette to start — then I can figure out if I want a little lacework or texture in the body or sleeves as I go. Button band or decorative edging or what? along the front opening — to be decided.
So, on to the cleaning! Then, on to the knitting!!!
