Oops! Overlooked a project when I was ticking off the knitting in my bag(s). The Color Blocks Puzzle Box! It is adapted from Kathy Zimmerman’s Boxed Lilac (Knitter’s Magazine Summer 2015) — which is basically 2 rectangles of lace bordered by wide seed stitch panels. We decided to use 4 colors instead of one and chose 2 different lace patterns for the rectangles — so the garment is reversible! We chose Shibui Staccato ((merino/silk) — delicious! The simple seed stitch looks like stars. It is definitely a color block piece — and sort of reminds me of a puzzle box (hence the delightfully rhyme-y name).
When I looked in the bag where I keep the bulk of the yarn, I found some exquisite Shibui Silk Cloud (kid mohair/silk)…oh, yesssss….I remember now! We fell under the spell of Elise Duvekot’s Symphany of Stripes (same magazine)! And why not make this fabulous shawl (it is like fluid stained glass) in colors that coordinate with the Color Blocks Puzzle Box?!
So, lots of luxurious knitting lined up for September. Mmmmmmmm…..
