So the “Embroidering Your Knitting” classes with Franklin Habit (at Madrona Fiber Arts Winter Retreat) last week were FABULOUS!  Well worth knitting 4 mammoth white swatches for (although it turned out that the “2 for each class” was a typo — it should have been “1 for each class” — hehehe).

Franklin is a terrific teacher and he knows his stuff.  After 6 hours of his entertaining tutelage, we are ready to embroider the heck out of our knitting whenever the fancy takes us 🙂

I have done quite a bit of embroidery over the years — but never on knitted fabric.  He guided us through the work step-by-step and, most crucially, told us what tools to use.

Those are my sampler bits.  For my project, I replicated these guys from the cover of the spiral notebook I had brought for class notes.

And in order to be prepared when inspiration strikes, I bought these sets of “minis” at the Madrona Market —exquisite yarns of useful embroidery weight from Canon Hand Dyes 🙂
