It feels like I have not finished a knitting project in months! Which is probably because I have not finished a knitting project in months Sometimes it is like that — tiny-gauged pieces that take billions and billions of stitches and techniques like brioche which require you to knit 2 rows to complete 1 row (you knit every other stitch and then go round again purling the stitches you didn’t knit…really, that is what you do…). And throw in a massive design project of epic proportions…well, let’s just say that I have been accomplishing a lot without achieving anything. For months.
Until this week when I completed Purl Soho’s “Big Herringbone Cowl” in some fabulous Blue Moon Fiber Arts yarn! A striking stitch pattern, especially when worked in brilliant colors:
The lower photo shows the piece in process — and you can appreciate the unique pattern which looks woven. Not a difficult technique once you learn how, but all the extra manipulating of yarn (And it is bulky yarn on thick needles!) makes it tiring for the hands. So, I didn’t exactly whip it out in a couple of weeks — but my goal was to have it to wear this Spring (my philosophy being that one needs warm clothes in Spring colors here in the Pacific NW where Spring cold is somehow more bitter and insidious than Winter cold).
And here we are!
