Ah, Beach knitting!
It always takes a while to get home from the Beach after we get home from the Beach. Not just the unpacking and shaking out the sand and getting caught up at home and settling into our usual routines again, but adjusting my sights as Autumn approaches. For me, our August weeks at the Beach are the culmination of Summer Not the end Summer, I am quick to say! But as we pack away our swimsuits and September arrives, it is clearly time to look Autumn-ward.
And certainly the knitting magazines concur! With all their russet and gold yarns, their back-to-school socks and leaf-raking pullovers, page after page of sinuous, seductive cables…..
BUT before I dive into glories of Autumn, I have GOT to finish off some of the Summer projects! Because there are still warm days ahead — cottons and linens are ideal for balmy late Summer weeks. And, quite honestly, I would really like to complete them rather than pack them away nearly done.
So, all week, I have been working on three particular projects fully convinced that I will finish them before the end of Labor Day Weekend and fully aware that I cannot. But I have told myself that after giving them all I’ve got until midnight on Labor Day, I can turn my attention to the Autumn projects that are hallooing at me from the wings.
My hope is that I will finish at least one Summer projects and be so near completion on the other 2 that I will be basking in the light at the end of the tunnel, as it were, and will just dance my way to the finale like Fred Astaire at his best!
That’s the plan and I’m sticking to it.
