Hello and how did it get to be late June already?! Not that I am complaining! Especially as Summer finds me knitting out on the deck — which is just delightful. But before we get to the Deck Knitting, I get to share our newest joy: Julian! Born May 26 and doing beautifully 🙂 We traveled to Reno to visit and welcome him when he was just 6 days old — and brought the Baby Knits with us, of course.
Oh so sweet!
Back home again, we grumbled through some rainy days, welcomed Summer on the Solstice, celebrated Father’s Day with a barbecue…and here we are at the end of June. And here am I knitting on the back deck.
My Mermaid Sweater (my own design) is coming along. I am enjoying the lace knitting — it is like a dance. And the challenge of decreasing in lace pattern is my idea of fun! It is a cotton-wool blend and should be a perfect “instead of a sweatshirt” sweater from Summer through Fall.
I succumbed to this kit from We Are Knitters (Dive Tee) — a cotton t-shirt sweater with dramatic “dropped stitch” open work accents. Lots of plain knitting — it was a great project for the car trip to Reno! The back is done and I am working on the front now. Again, this should be a great Summer-to-Fall piece.
I have been working on some warmer sweater knitting too (wool), but am now pondering resurrecting a couple of Summer projects from last year (which I would really like to finish!). There is a part of my brain that seems to think that if I start (or re-start) more projects, I will complete more projects. Sadly, it does not seem to work that way. So, before I pull out those hibernating projects I will either have to complete a couple of things or decide to set a couple things aside for now. The former is preferable, of course.
There is also the matter of some crocheted butterflies which have been promised to my grand-daughters….Gotta get those done! Good think it stays light so late — I have a lot of Deck Knitting (and Deck Crocheting) to do 🙂
